**The term “Kuchi” is a modern term coined in the 1980’s that refers to the tribal people of Afghanistan, Pakistan & Iran. This term is derived from the Farsi word “kuch,” which translates to “migration,” therefore alluding to the migrating tribes that reside within the region. This region includes the Turkmen, Uzbek, Tajik, Kazakh, Baluch and Hazara people, as well as the Pashtun. A beautifully written article to learn more about these tribes & their traditions can be found HERE, alongside multiple courses on jewelry traditions of the Middle East & Ancient Egypt.
